Our Story

Why does anyone become a florist? It’s probably because they think flowers are pretty. It’s really as simple as that. Sometimes we just need to surround ourselves with joyful and beautiful things.

When people think of “florist”, they don’t usually picture someone like me, but I’ve been in the wedding industry since I was a 6 foot 4 inch tall teenager, and I’ve been a fan of flowers even longer (that’s me on the right with lao lao, my grandma). I think flowers can and should be appreciated by all. They bring the outdoors in, help us express our creativity, and connect loved ones—and that’s a gift anyone can share.

Today, we (it’s a “we” now that I met my life and business partner, Wren!) work with clients in the Greater Vancouver area to bring their floral visions to life.

Why Petal Parties?

When the pandemic hit in 2020 nobody was getting married, which meant we were kind of out of business as a floral designers for weddings. That worked out well for us: we still had our hands full when our daughter, Avery, was born that year, and then when our son, Linden, was born in 2022. For a while, we traded flowers for diapers.

What we did miss was the creative outlet that designing florals and arranging them for our clients provided. When we saw that other people were similarly missing both a creative outlet as well as social connection, we had an idea. So when pandemic restrictions were finally lifted, we started our (socially distanced) petal parties

We believe that floral design is a skill that anyone can learn that’s both creative and practical. DIY your own wedding flowers? Sure! Learn how to make your own home arrangements? Why not? Have an afternoon of fun with your friends? Yes, always.

Happily ever after… this is us on our wedding day!

(And yes, we did our own flowers with the help of our friends.)

Say hi to our little bundles of joy, Avery and Linden!
